Welcome
The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (LAS) Multicultural Student Success (MSS) works directly with students who self-identify as: African American, American Indian/Alaskan Native, Asian American, Hawaiian/Pacific Islander, Latina/o, and/or Multiracial. We are an advocate and support domestic students who are open option or majoring in a LAS degree at Iowa State University. LAS has 1200+ multicultural students, making our students 19% of the college population (fall 2020).
The LAS Director of Multicultural Student Success (DMSS) manages a variety of programming and events, meets one on one with students, serves on campus-wide committees, meets with faculty and to advocate for students, and supervises an awesome team consisting of the undergraduate student coordinator and the new student engagement coordinator (graduate assistant). Each of the seven colleges at ISU has a DMSS. The College DMSS work together to plan monthly study tables, professional development lunches, and semesterly professional pop-up shops under the #SquardCare brand.
